Print Quality and Electrical Tests (section A)
Locations in section "A" are the print/test modules. The first step in the refilling process is the electrical test. Electronically defective cartridges are rejected before the ink refilling process begins. Once the empty cartridge passes the electrical test, the operator removes the cartridge and inserts it into section "C" to begin the evacuation and fill procedures. Finally, the cartridge is brought back to section "A" for the "print quality test". The system uses the cartridge to print a print quality "test pattern" on paper. The operator visually examines this test pattern as the final quality control check.
Touch Screen Control Center (section B)
We chose Microsoft Windows XPe as the operating system to support this high- contrast 8" color LCD monitor and touch screen. It also provides internet and network connectivity for software/firmware upgrades, usage tracking (clicks),
system monitoring for quality, and more. Every step of the process is controlled by the operator through the monitor and touch screen. Operation and instructions have been designed to be exceptionally user friendly. The menus and help videos speed the operator through every step of the process.
Evacuation and Fill Stations (section C)
Locations are the fill cradles. This is where the cartridge is actually filled. Once a cartridge has passed the electrical test in section "A", the operator inserts it into one of these fill cradles. The touch screen monitor indicated which fill cradle to use. Once the cartridge has been inserted, the operator presses the on-screen continue button. The system goes to work cleaning the print head and evacuating any remaining ink in the cartridge. Once evacuation is complete, the system automatically begins filling the cartridge's ink reservoir. Filling is done through the print head in the case of a black cartridge, and through fill needles in the case of a color cartridge. Once the machine has successfully refilled the cartridge, the operator is instructed to move the cartridge back to section "A" for the print test.
Lower Unit (section D)
These heavy-duty drawers hold everything needed to make this system a complete self-contained cartridge refilling center. The top drawer contains all the tools and supplies used during the refilling process. The three center drawers contain an ample stock of clips for finished cartridges and ink tanks for sale. The bottom drawer contains the ink distribution unit, fluid management system, ink boxes, cleaning solution and waste container. All supplies come in easy to install packages equipped with no-spill, quick "connect/disconnect" type connectors.
